There are certainly extenuating circumstances which can be used to defend against the wrongness of commiting infidelity, for instance, if a married couple with children are staying together simply for their childrens sake, then it becomes an outlet for ones sexuality which is no longer being fulfilled within your official relationship.
However, in the main, it is commited simply because people are to weak, selfish and greedy, and it is this majority which condemns infidelity as a cruel and sick act. If you had witnessed the reactions of some of the victims it leaves, then surely you wou would agree.
